The Real Impact

Sun24’s rocket stoves use less firewood and emit far less smoke. Also, in the past, my children could not sit in the kitchen because of the smoke, but now they can stay with me. Before having the rocket stove, I was collecting firewood every day. Today, I can go 2-3 days without collecting fire wood because of how efficient the rocket stove is.

I raise cows, sheep, pigs, and goats, and when I mix biochar into their feed they grow heavy and produce more. Biochar also helps maize grow when I add biochar to the soil. When my plants and animals produce more, I make more money. My cow was giving me 4-5 liters of milk before biochar, but since adding biochar to her feed she now produces 8 litres of milk, which I’m able to sell.
I appreciate Sun24’s efforts in training us how to make and use biochar. I only wish I had time to make more.

I used to spend 3,000-5,000 Ugandan Shillings per week on kerosene for lighting my home. Today, with the rechargeable solar lantern that Sun24 provided me, I spend almost no money on kerosene for lighting. The solar lantern has also reduced smoke inside my home and even shines brighter than kerosene lanterns. Because of this, my children can now read for 3-5 hours a night whereas before they could not. .
